Sarah Djordjevic

IL ASTA President-Elect

Sarah Djordjevic is the director of orchestras at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois, and has also taught at Danville High School in Danville, Illinois. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she completed her master’s thesis entitled “Student Perceptions of Cooperative Learning in Instrumental Music.”

Mrs. Djordjevic has presented her work on Assessment Literacy at the 2015 American String Teachers Association National Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Past presentations include the topics of Differentiated Instruction in the Orchestra Classroom and Orchestral Rehearsal Techniques. Her cooperative learning research was presented at the 2008 American String Teachers Association National Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Her undergraduate work included viola studies with Emanuel Vardi at the University of Illinois and with Richard Young at Northern Illinois University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education.

Sarah Djordjevic is proud to serve as treasurer for the Illinois American String Teachers Association. Sarah enjoys working with students and colleagues at Maine East High School where she serves as the Director of Orchestras and as an Instructional coach. She is a member of the Music Educators National Conference and the American String Teachers Association.
