Michael Naughton has been an orchestra teacher at Still Middle School in Aurora since 2015 where he teaches small group technique, large ensemble classes sixth through eighth grade, and the alternative extra-curricular ensemble. Previously he directed upperclassmen and alternative ensembles at Metea Valley High School. Before his time in Aurora, he taught at Victoria Soto High School, an ACERO school in CPS, where he served as the fine arts department chair, founded the guitar, choral, and violin programs, and wrote music curriculum for the network as music liaison. He was also head violin instructor at the non-profit Mariachi Institute of Chicago in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago.
Michael received his Bachelor’s in Instrumental Musica Education from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He is an active arranger and violin/violist in the Chicagoland area. Currently, he is a member of the Lakeview Orchestra and can also be seen performing in chamber and non-traditional performances.
